This is a photo of MAJ Scott Nelson, our spokesman, speaking at the elections media relations center in Kabul. The MRC was set up by the UN Mission in Afghanistan to provide a central information source for the media covering the election. We estimate from credentialing records that there were more than 900 media-related people in country to cover the election! Spokesmen from the Joint Elections Management Body, the UN, observers, the military coalition and others were able to use this location to distribute information and answer questions from reporters. Media were able to use the MRC as work space since there were computers, copiers and Internet connections available for them to use free of charge. It helped everyone tell the story of the elections.
