This picture was taken at the Elections Security Operations Center which was set up to monitor security throughout Afghanistan and coordinate proper responses to violence. It was staffed by people from the UN, US, Afghanistan, Germany and other agencies and countries. Providing a secure environment for the voters was a crucial part of the whole process.
